Our ingredients

Three Kings charcoal is made of untreated, natural, fresh beech wood from sustainable forestry.

Our natural resins are raw, naturally occurring substances, such as frankincense, copal, myrrh and red wood, which are harvested from trees by making a small incision on the trunk or branches of the tree. Next, the resin can be collected as a milky substance that coagulates upon contact with air. Popular resin trees include the Boswellia papyrifera, Boswellia sacra, Styrax benzoin, Styrax Tonkinensis, Commiphora Myrrha. Most trees are native to Africa, although many gum trees also originate from the Asian continent.

Our incense contains the same resin as our natural product, although in this case the grains are processed. We wash the product in perfume oils and color them with pigments, which are harmless and all EU-approved. The tree used to create our incense blends belongs to the genus Boswellia. This can be the Boswellia papyrifera,  also known as Olibanum and frankincense, and native to Ethiopia, Eritrea and Sudan. The incense smoke from this tree is characterized by a fresh lemon-pine scent, which is why it’s so popular.

Another popular incense tree is the Boswellia sacra (a more sweet incense). This tree is native to the Arabiab Peninsula (Yemen) and Puntland (Somalia).
